The body of eminent botanist and science writer Prof Dwijen Sharma, who died on Friday, will cremated on Sunday in Dhaka.
"His body will be kept at Bangla Academy and the central Shahid Minar at 10:30 am and 11:30 am respectively so that people can pay their last tributes to the eminent writer," science writer Mokarram Hossain told reporters on Saturday, reports UNB
Co-writers, prominent personalities, organizations and individuals will pay their last respect to the noted writer.
His body will be cremated beside Kalimandir (Temple) situated at the city’s Sobujbagh area after all rituals and tributes.
He breathed his last at Square Hospital early Friday due to old age complications at the age of 88. He left behind wife, one son and a daughter and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
Sharma was born on May 29, 1929, at Shimulia village of Barlekha Upazila in Moulvibazar district.
He was awarded Bangla Academy Award in 1987 and Ekushey Padak in 2015 for his contributions to language and literature.
His famous books include Shamoli Nishorgo (Green Nature), Shomajtontre Boshobash (Living in Socialism), Jiboner Shesh Nei (No End To Life), Phoolgulo Jeno Kotha (Each Flower Is A Word), Biggan Shikkha O Daiboddhotar Nirikh ( Science Education and Our Responsibilities), and Nishorgo Nirman O Nandonik Bhabna.
