DNCC evicts illegal establishments from Mirpur

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Thursday conducted a drive in the city’s Mirpur area to evict illegal shops and establishments.

A team, led by DNCC Executive Magistrate Mohammad Sajid Anowar, conducted the drive from 11:00am to 3:00pm and evicted 350 illegal makeshift structures from the area, said official.

The illegal structures were built on Hope School road and Senpara Boundary road areas in Mirpur 10, said DNCC Public Relations Officer A S M Mamun.

Nearly 30,000 square feet of area was freed from illegal occupation, said Mamun.

Apart from this, a mobile court filed three cases against three business entities and fined Tk 70,000 for grabbing footpath illegally as per the Local Government (City Corporation) Act, 2009.

The entities are Alif Decorator, Khalek Hotel and Saddh Teheri.

The drives will continue to dismantle the illegal establishments from the city, he added.

Gullal Singha, Zonal Executive Officer of DNCC, was present during the drives.
