Tight security measures have been taken in and around the Jatiya Eidgah where the country’s main congregation of Eid-ul-Fitr will be held.

“Devotees will be allowed to carry jainamaz and umbrella at the Eidgah maidan but those will be checked at each entry point,” said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah on Thursday.

Besides, carrying of bags, vanity bags, mobile phones, firearms and sharp weapons are strictly prohibited at the Eidgah for the sake of security, the DMP boss told reporters after visiting the security arrangements.

Talking about the security in the capital during the Eid holiday, Asaduzzaman said police in association with the local security guards will ensure security to the citizens in a coordinated way, reports UNB.

Replying to a query about any militant threat, the DMP boss said police have taken all-out preparation keeping the issue in mind.
