DMP files 2,480 cases over violating traffic rules

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a daylong drive on Friday filed 2,480 cases against different modes of vehicles under traffic rule violation laws.

Traffic division in their simultaneous drives on the city streets also realised Tk 783,000 as fine to this end, said an official release on Saturday.

As many as 190 cases were lodged for driving on the wrong sides, 54 other cases for using hydraulic horn, five for using hotter and beckon light and six others for using tinted glass.

Some 40 cases, including 11 video cases, were lodged against drivers of different modes of vehicles on charges of talking over mobile phone while they were driving.

It also dumped 19 vehicles and wrecked 455 others, reports BSS.

Besides, 646 cases were lodged against motorcyclists and 18 motorbikes were seized following traffic rule violations.
