Women Support and Investigation Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has extended its support to the helpless women and children amid the coronavirus shutdown.

It also urged the helpless, needy and homeless women and children who are single mothers, widows and unemployed and are living inhumane and miserable lives, even not able to stand in line to get relief in the capital, to send the SMS to the numbers- 01745-774487, 01769-058101, 01713-398360- for help.

The division has already distributed home-made food to more than 300 helpless unemployed families in Tejgaon area.

In the current situation, they are providing special food aid services on their own initiative to those people.

The DMP's unit is a groundbreaking initiative of Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Bangladesh Police as well to address the issues of rampant violence against Women and Children in Bangladesh.

It started its Journey as Victim Support Center on 17th February, 2009 with the support of the Police Reform Programme and the collaboration of ten partner NGOs.

From July 2011, an investigation unit and quick response teams were established and started working under this division.
