Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 44 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the ongoing anti-narcotics drives in the capital in last 24 hours till 6:00 Saturday.
Detective Branch of the DMP in association of the members of local police stations carried out the drives separately starting from 6:00 am Friday.
During the drives, the law enforcers recovered 566 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 511.3 grams heroin, 785 grams hemp and five liters of locally-made wine from their possessions, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
A total of 32 cases were filed with different police stations under Narcotics Control Act, he added, reports UNB.
