Cox’s Bazar district administration has decided to impose a lockdown to prevent spread of coronavirus.

Deputy Commissioner Md Kamal Hossain came up with the announcement through the official Facebook page “DC Cox’s Bazar’ around 3:30pm on Wednesday, reports UNB.

The DC also warned that stern action would be taken against restrictions violators.

No one will be allowed to enter and exit the district from now, he added.

“We are taking initiative to supply food to houses, if there is any information of food crisis,” he added, urging all to stay home.

Meanwhile, three more people died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising death toll to 20, according to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR).

Besides, 54 people tested positive for COVID-19 during the period, raising the number of such cases in the country to 218, said IEDCR. Case numbers have risen sharply this week, with moderately ramped up testing facilities around the country.
