DIFE to introduce online licensing system

The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) will introduce online licensing system for factories, shops, and other establishments to simplify the procedure, according to a statement.

The owners and authorities of factories, shops and establishments would then be able to renew and obtain new licenses easily by logging in to the Labour Inspection Management Application (LIMA) website (http://lima.dife.gov.bd/) by following the required procedures in line with the labour law and rules, it added.

A two-day workshop was organised at Munshiganj that ended on Thursday, aimed at creating awareness among the DIFE officials to make LIMA more accessible by providing them practical experience and advice on online licencing and renewal procedure.

Speaking at the workshop, the DIFE inspector general Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed said the DIFE has planned to simplify all its activities like factory inspection, licence fee collection, issuance of licence, etc. for providing speedy services.

Orientation programmes for factory authorities have already taken place to implement LIMA, he said, adding all important work including databases on factory- and labour-related issues would be done through LIMA.

The factory authorities would easily get licences and renew them through using LIMA thus both factory authorities and the department would get rid of official complexities, he said.

DIFE joint inspector general (Health) Md Mustafizur Rahman, joint inspector general (Safety) Farid Ahmed, Ministry of Labour and Employment system analyst Sukanta Basak and GIZ senior technical adviser Firoz Alam, among others, were present at the workshop, organised by the GIZ.
