State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali on Tuesday said the third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka will be inaugurated in October this year.
“The 60 per cent work of Dhaka airport's third terminal has been completed,” the state minister said after visiting the passenger services at the first and second terminals of the airport and the construction work of the third terminal, reports UNB.
Currently, the interior decoration and installation work of different types of machinery are going on and the 3rd terminal of the airport will be opened in October, this year, he said while talking to reporters
A number of development works including strengthening work of runways, modernization of security system, and construction of new terminal buildings are going on at all airports to ensure better passenger services and safe movement of flights, he said.
Besides, the Civil Aviation Ministry and Civil Aviation Authority are monitoring regularly so that passengers don’t harassment at the airports, he said.
Replying to a question, he said the take-off and landing flights at Dhaka airport will remain suspended for five hours daily due to the ongoing development work of the Instrumental Landing System (ILS) of the runway and once it is upgraded from category 2 to category 1 the limitations of flight operation amid fog will be over.
