The government on Wednesday confirmed that 98 people died from dengue since January.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research has reviewed 158 cases out of 246 suspected dengue deaths.

Bangladesh has been grappling with a massive outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease with 92,750 people hospitalised since the beginning of the year.

Of them, 91,331 have recovered. Currently, 1,173 patients are being treated at hospitals, reports UNB.

The situation has been improving in recent weeks. In the last 24 hours until 8am, 283 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, the Directorate General of Health Services said in a regular update.
