Customs Intelligence officials recovered 3.5 maunds firecrackers from a commuter train at Navaran rail station on Wednesday morning.
Acting on a tip off, a team of customs intelligence conducted the drive in a Khulna-bound commuter train from Benapole and recovered the firecrackers from a toilet of the train, said Abdus Sadeq, deputy commissioner of customs intelligence.
Customs Intelligence officials suspected that smugglers brought those firecrackers illegally from India through Putkhali frontier.
However, no one was arrested in this connection.
UNB said the firecrackers were deposited to Benapole Customs House.
