A man was killed allegedly by his elder brother over a land-related dispute at Purba Syedbari village in Rangunia Upazila of Chattogram district on Monday night, reports UNB.
The victim was identified as Abdur Razzak, 45, son of Haji Abdul Malik, a resident of the village.
Mohammad Selim, Chairman of Mariumnagar union, said the two siblings—Mohammad Musa and Abdur Razzak—had long been at loggerheads over a plot of land.
On the fateful night, they locked into an altercation over the issue.
At one stage, Musa hit Razzak in his head with a sharp weapon leaving him dead on the spot.
Razzak’s wife and son were also injured as they came forward to save him. They were sent to Upazila Health Complex.
Officer-in-charge of Rangunia Police Station Imtiaz Mohammad Ahsanul Kabir Bhuiyan said police recovered the body and arrested three members of the family, including Musa.
