A woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in Falia village of Pabna's Sadar Upazila on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Hamida Khatun, 32, wife of Tejem Molla of the village. They have a son and a daughter, reports UNB.

Aminul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, said Wednesday that Tejem used to torture his wife Hamida over his illicit affair with another woman.

On Tuesday, an argument broke out between the couple and Tejem beat up his wife mercilessly. Later, he stabbed her multiple times, leaving Hamida dead.

Tejem subsequently severed the hands and legs of Hamida and fled, the OC said.

"The body was sent to the local hospital morgue for an autopsy. Efforts are on to arrest the accused," he added.
