A Sirajganj court on Wednesday sentenced two people to life-term imprisonment for killing a young man in Ullahpara upazila in 2007.
The convicts are Lavu Pramanik, 28, son of Golam Mostafa of Satbaria village in the upazila, and Abu Sayeed, 27, son of Anwar Mollah of the same village.
Sirajganj District and Session’s Judge Sheikh Merina Sultana also awarded them three years’ imprisonment in another court for trying to conceal the body and fined them Tk 2,000 each.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Advocate Samsul Alam said police recovered the body of the youth, Ashraf Ali, then 20, from the bank of the Fuljhar river at Charghatina of Ullahpara municipality on November 14, 2007.
A case was filed against five unidentified people over the killing, reports UNB.
Three accused were acquitted as the allegation brought against them could not be proved, added the APP.
