Trial begins against 11 Mymensingh war crimes suspects

The International Crimes Tribunal on Sunday framed charges against 11 suspects of Mymensingh for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.

The three-member tribunal, led by Justice Shahinur Islam, passed the order and set April 12 to record testimonies of the witnesses.

Five of the 11 accused -- Md Khalilur Rahman, Abul Kalam alias Samsuzzaman, Md Abdullah, Rois Uddin Azadi alias Akkel Ali of Sadhura village in Gafargaon upazila, and Abdul Malek Akand alias Abul Hossain of Khurda Panashail village in Bhaluka upazila -- are behind the bars while the rest have been on the run.

UNB said, the suspects were charged for killing four people, abducting and torturing nine others at Sadhura and Rouha villages of Gafargaon during the Liberation War in 1971.
