Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) recovered 2,530 litres of stolen fuel and arrested three people in this connection from Azimpur Railway Station area under Lalpur Upazila in Natore district early hours of Wednesday.
According to the RAB sources, the arrestees were identified as Mokbul Hossain, 48, Abdul Awal, 44, and Rafiqul Islam, 38.
On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid in the area at about 3:00 am and arrested them. Based on their confessional statement, the operation team recovered 600 litres of petrol, 200 litres of diesel, 400 litres of kerosene, 1,200 litres of engine oil and 130 litres of mixed fuel.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Azmal Hossain, Company Commander of RAB-5, said the detainees were involved in stealing fuel from stranded trains at Azimpur station for long.
Meanwhile, the RAB members also arrested four alleged drug pedlars here on charge of taking drugs and drug trafficking and seized the narcotics, BSS reported.
Regular cases were filed against the detainees. All the arrestees along with the seized goods were handed over to police.
