Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained 22 more suspects in Rajshahi on Tuesday and they were sentenced to six months jail each by a mobile court on charge of consuming and selling drugs.
The elite force conducted raids in different areas of Rajshahi, Chapainawabganj, Natore and Joypurhat districts and arrested 26 people for their alleged involvement in drug trading or consumption.
Regular case has been lodged against four of them.
The RAB sources said the force also seized 760 yaba tablets, 47 bottles of phensidyl, 1.57 kilograms of cannabis, and 39,800 litres of local liquor and some other drugs-taking instruments from their possessions.
Later, the arrestees were produced before a mobile court. After examining the evidences, the court sentenced 22 of them to jail, BSS reported.
Nure Alam, assistant superintendent of police working with the RAB, said different courts sent more than 343 drug addicts to jail during the last 14 days.
