Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in two separate anti-crime drives, arrested two with two foreign pistols and 1,187 Yaba tablets in Rajshahi in the past 16 hours.
The arrested were identified as Borhan Ali, 30, of Chamta village under Charghat upazila and Pappa Sharma, 33, son of Subal Sharma of Alupatty area in Rajshahi city, RAB officials said.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in Shalua area under Charghat upazila around 6.40 am and arrested Borhan Ali.
They seized two American pistols with three magazines and nine rounds of bullets and 222 contraband pills from his possession, reports BSS.
Another team of the elite force arrested Pappa Sharma after conducting a raid in Badhuria area under the same upazila around 9.30 pm on Friday.
The team seized 965 yaba pills, a mobile phone set, a SIM-card and Tk 2,100 in cash along with a motorbike from his possession.
The RAB team detained the people for their alleged involvement in firearms and Yaba trading and trafficking.
Two separate cases were filed with Charghat Police Station in connection with the incidents.
Later, the arrested along with the seized goods were handed over to police.
