Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested a suspected drug trader along with 5,640 yaba tablets (worth Tk 2.82m) from Puratan Bus Stand area of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on Monday night.
The arrestee is Abu Bakar Siddiq, 25, son of Mamtaz, resident of Puratan Polanpara village.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of them conducted the drive in the area at around 10:05pm and arrested Abu Bakar along with the contraband drugs, said Assistant Director of RAB-7 media Md Mashkur Rahman, also an assistant superintendent of police.
However, RAB adds that another drug pedlar Md Syed Alam, 32, fled the scene.
