A private university student has died after he came under an attack by a group of his acquaintances at Madhya Badda in the capital Dhaka on Monday morning.

Twenty-four-year-old Nasim Ahmed was a third year BBA student of Manarat International University, says MD Bachchu Miah, Sub-Inspector at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital or DMCH Police Outpost.

Ahmed received severe stab injuries in the stomach about 9:30am as he was going to have breakfast at a local restaurant, he said.

His neighbour Nasim rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 10:45 am, said police official Bachhu.

The victim’s father Saifuddin Ahmed said there was an altercation between his son Nasim and a local boy Ramzan over a cricket match on Sunday.

His son was killed over the clash, he said, adding that an arbitration was scheduled to be held in the evening today to settle the feud between them.

Little did police have information to immediately confirm the identifies about those who were involved in the attack
