Security guard found dead in ATM

Police have recovered the throat-slit body of a security guard from an Eastern Bank ATM booth near the Cantonment Post Officein in the capital.

The incident occurred at some point after sehri on Monday morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Cantonment Zone Assistant Commissioner Tapash Kumar Das said.

The body of the security guard—Nurunnabi, 20, son of Abu Bakar Siddik—was found inside the booth, Das said.

Locals found the body of the security guard around 9:30am and informed police. Later, police recovered the body and sent to the morgue.

The police officer said they have not confirmed whether the booth was robbed.

But, according to EBL Head of Brand and Communications Ziaul Karim, there was no indication that money had been taken from the ATM’s safe, reports bdnews24.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of a young security guard. We have informed law enforcers. They are conducting an investigation,” Karim said.
