Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in separate mobile court drives on Friday fined different people and organisations a total of Tk 39,200 for allegedly violating the government’s social distancing measures amid the ongoing coronavirus lockdown.
Several DMP teams, headed by its executive magistrates, conducted the drives in the capital and sentenced a man to two years’ imprisonment for violating the government's order.
It also fined different people and vehicle drivers for breaching the order in 61 cases.
Law enforcement agencies with the help of Bangladesh Army have been implementing the government directives on social distancing throughout the country aiming to stem the spread of coronavirus.
