Miscreants kill mover driver in Ctg

A mover driver died at a hospital on Wednesday night hours after he was shot at a business establishment on Fouzdarhat Link Road in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram.

The deceased was identified as prime mover driver Shahjahan Saju, 48, son of Nurul Alam of Noakhali district, reports UNB.

Chattogram Prime Mover Trailer Association announced a strike from 6:00am on Thursday protesting against the killing.

Mohamamd Mainuddin, president of the association, made the announcement at an emergency meeting last night.

The motive behind the killing could not be known yet.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Hamid of Chittagong Medical College Hospital police camp said Saju was brought there with a gunshot wound around 4:00pm. He died about four hours later.

Sheikh Shamim, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda Police Station, said they had heard that the incident took place at ‘Kafin Enterprise’, a sister-concern of Didarul Alam and Brothers owned by local Member of Parliament Didarul Alam.

The MP said he had asked the local administration to look into the matter as soon as he learned about it.
