A man was killed in a clash with his rivals over a piece of land in Moulvibazar’s district's Juri upazila on Tuesday.
Police said the victim, 53-year-old Taher Ali of Kalinagar village, had a longstanding land dispute with his neighbour Chan Mia.
Two groups, led by Taher and Chan, tried to sow paddy in the disputed land in the afternoon, triggering a clash, said Jahangir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Juri Police Station.
They fought with sharp weapons and sticks, leaving at least six to seven people injured, including Taher. He was taken to a local hospital but doctors pronounced him dead, UNB reports.
Three people had been detained for interrogation over the man's death, the OC said.
