JMB man Khalid on six-day remand

A Dhaka court on Saturday granted a six-day remand to a suspected member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), also a charge-sheeted accused in the Holey Artisan Bakery attack case, in a case filed under Anti-Terrorism Act.

The accused is Shariful Islam alias Khalid.

Matropolitan Magistrate Shadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order after Assistant Superintendent of Police Md Salauddin, investigation office of the case ,sought 10-day remand to interrogate the accused.

On September 22, 2018, Khalid held a meeting along with his accomplices for planning sabotage in a house in the city's Mudga area. Police raided the house and seized huge of books on militancy but the militants managed to flee.

Later police filed a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act and Khalid was shown arrested in the case after his arrest on Friday, reports UNB.

RAB arrested Shariful Islam, a former student of Rajshahi University (RU) and condemned killer of RU teacher Dr Rezaul Karim and also key planner of Holey Artisan attack that had killed 22 people on July 1, 2016, from Nachole upazila of Chapainawabganj on Friday.
