A tribunal on Thursday sentenced a man to death for killing a woman after rape in Bhugilhat village in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore in 2018.
The tribunal also fined convicted Jakir Hossain, son of Delwar Hossain Mallik of the same village, Tk 5,000 in default, to suffer two months in rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, police recovered the body of Doly Khatun, 40, from a water body on February 10, 2018.
Later, the victim's mother Abeda Begum filed a case with Abhaynagar Police Station.
Police arrested six people in this connection and submitted charge-sheet against five of them, says a UNB report.
After examining records and witnesses, Jashore Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge TM Musa handed down the verdict while acquitted four others as allegations brought against them could not be proved.
