Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a special anti-drug drive arrested 49 suspects from different areas of Dhaka city for selling and consuming illegal drugs.
A special team of the DMP, comprising Detective Branch (DB) of police, and other law officials, launched the drives in various places of the capital, according to a DMP statement issued on Monday.
The law enforcers also recovered 17,22 pieces of sedative Yaba tablets, 190 grams heroin, five bottles of phensedyl, and 6 kg and 710 grams cannabis from their possessions.
A total of 39 cases were filed under the Narcotic Control Act against the suspects with the concerned police stations in the city.
The drive began at 6:00am on Sunday and ended at 6:00am on Monday (today), the statement added.
