Police arrested five people from different areas of Sakhipur upazila of the district on Wednesday night on charge of attacking two college girls.
The arrestees are Monwar Hossain Antar, Sakib Al Hasan, Siam Hossain, Ahmed Kabya and Zahid Hasan Agun.
The arrestees were sent to a local court on Thursday seeking a seven-day remand, said Officer-in-charge of Sakhipur Police Station Maksudul Alam
The court fixed Friday for hearing, said Sub-inspector SM Mujibur Rahman, also investigation officer of a case filed over the incident.
According to the case statement and witnesses, three stalkers attacked the two female students of Sakhipur Residential Women's College -- Taslima Sultana Swarna and Sushmita -- dragging them out of an auto-van in front Rafique Raju Cadet School.
They also attacked Ali Hossain Talukder, a local, who came forward to save the girls.
Later, when some other locals rushed in, the attackers fled the scene.
College Principal Renubar Rahman filed the case with Sakhipur Police Station over the incident, reports UNB.
Meanwhile, teachers and students of the college formed a rally on Thursday morning protesting the attack.
