BGB arrests man with $40,000

The Border Guard of Bangladesh or BGB has detained a man in possession of $40,000 early on Thursday.

The 30-year-old Enamul Hoque was detained from Amrakhali check post in the border area, said Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Haque, commanding officer of BGB-49 battalion.

Enamul, son of Sheikh Abu Bakkar, hailed from Khasial village under Kalia Upazila in Narail.

On a tip-off that a large amount of hundi money was being transferred from Benapole to Barishal, a BGB team took position at the Amrhakhali check post, BGB official Ariful briefed the media.

Then, the suspect with the money was detained from a Barishal-bound bus, reports bdnews24.

Enamul has been charged in a money laundering act and the money has been handed to Benapole’s customs authority, Ariful said.
