17-year-old Mala Akhtar, a student of class XI, was identified as daughter of M Mannan Khan from Gudighata village of Sadar upazila.

Amtali Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Md Shahid Ullah said they recovered the chopped body after having been informed by Mainul Ahsan Biplab, at whose house the murder was committed.

They arrested the suspected cuprit, identified as Alamgir Hossain Palash, son of Abdul Latif from Bashinda village at Mirjaganj upazila in Patuakhali, he said.

Quoting Palash's primary confessions, OC Shahid said they had been in a four-year affair. He took her to his relative Biplab’s house on Sunday and two days later there, they quarrelled, leading to the grisly situation.
