Cox’s Bazar worst hit by dengue, DGHS says

The highest number of dengue cases have been detected in Cox’s Bazar in this season, said Prof Dr Ahmedul Kabir, additional director general (administration) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday.

“Highest 48 dengue patients have died within three days of hospitalisation, 18 patients died within three to six days of admission while six patients within six to nine days and three in nine to 30 days, "he said, reports UNB. 

The DGHS official revealed these information at a press briefing over the overall dengue situation at Mohakhali in the capital.

The dengue infections are highest among people aged over 20 years while the death toll is high among people aged between 40-50 years, he said.

The number of deaths is high outside Dhaka and most of them died three days after hospitalization, he added.

The DGHS also instructed the authorities concerned to prepare more hospitals for dengue treatmen
