Education of school going children, specially from the poor families, has been severely disrupted since March last year in the country due to the closure of educational institutions amid pandemic, a survey has revealed.
According to it, a total of 5.92 million of primary and secondary level children are at serious risk of learning loss.
The study titled ‘Covid Impact on Education Life of Children’ also revealed that in addition to the risk of learning losses, the extended closure has led to far-reaching consequences resulting in increased risk of dropouts, and psychological and economic costs.
The survey findings were presented at a virtual press conference organised jointly by the Power and Participation Research Centre (PPRC) and BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) on Monday.
Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman, executive chairman of the PPRC, and Dr Imran Matin, executive director of the BIGD jointly presented the latest survey findings.
