Court rejects bail plea of quota reform leader

A court in Dhaka has rejected the bail plea of quota reform movement leader Rashed Khan in two separate cases.

The joint convener of Bangladesh General Students' Rights Protection Council was sent to jail in the cases filed with Shahbagh police station, reports UNB.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order on Wednesday when Rashed's lawyer submitted a petition seeking his bail.

Earlier , Detective Branch (DB) investigation officers of two cases Md Fazlur Rahman produced Rashed before the court on expiry of his 10-day remand.

Earlier on July 8, Rashed was put on a 10-day fresh remand on expiry of his 5-day remand in a case filed under the ICT Act.

On July 1, detectives arrested Rashed from Bhasantek area of the city after Al Nahian Khan Joy, Law Affairs secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station.

Police also showed Rashed arrested in another case filed over vandalising the house of Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman on April 8.
