Police recovered the bodies of a couple and their two minor children from their residence at Debpur village of Chandpur Sadar upazila on Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mainuddin, 35, his wife Fatema Begum, 24, their five-year-old daughter Mithila and one-year-old son Siam, of the same village.
Locals spotted the bodies in the morning and informed police, said Zihad Kabir, superintendent of Chandpur Police, while visiting the spot, UNB reported.
Police initially suspected that Mainuddin might have hanged himself after killing his wife and two children.
Meanwhile, Rampur Union Parishad Chairman Mamun Patwary said that Mainuddin worked in a bakery factory in Chattogram and came to his home on Sunday night.
