Two children drowned in a river at Kashil Paschimpara village in Basail upazila of Tangail on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Rumi, 7, daughter of Bhulu Jamadar and Shonali, 6, daughter of Manir Khan of the village, reports a news agency.
Sources said Rumi and Sonali slipped into the Jhenai River while playing nearby in the afternoon.
Later, local people rescued and took the kids to the local upazila health complex where doctors declared them dead.
