Two journalists receive splinter injuries at Benapole

Two journalists of a private television channel received splinter injuries during a clash between two groups of workers in the Benapole Port area in Jessore on Wednesday.

The injured are Jessore district correspondent Ziaur Rahman Zia and cameraperson Sharif Uddin of Independent Television.

The two groups of workers of the port locked into a clash on Tuesday over establishing supremacy at the port which left two workers injured.

As a sequel to the clash, the both groups clashed again around 10am on Wednesday when several bombs were blasted.

Zia and Sharif received injuries while taking footage of the bomb explosions, said witnesses.

UNB said, the injured were admitted to Jessore Sadar Hospital.

On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, said Apurba Hasan, officer-in-charge of Benapole Port Police Station.
