Three shot dead as robbers chase them in Faridpur

Three people were shot dead and another two wounded by robbers in separate robbery attempts at Mridhadangi village in Charbhadrasan upazila and Munshir Chor area in Sadarpur Upazila of Faridpur district on Thursday.

The deceased were Md Sajjad Mridha (30), and his cousin Sentu Mridha (28), hailing from Mridhadangi and Malek Khan (35), hailing from Munshir Chor.

Officer-in-Charge of Charbhadrasan Police Station, Ramprasad Bhakta said, a gang of robbers broke into the house of Asnar Fakir in the midnight and attempted to flee with jewellery and accessories Asnar had bought for his daughter’s wedding.

Hearing screams, locals chased the robbers.

Meanwhile, the robbers boarded a speedboat and fired several gunshots at the villagers, injuring four people.

The injured were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital where Sajjad and Sentu succumbed to injuries, the OC added.

In another incident, Malek khan of Sadarpur Upazila, was shot dead by robbers while trying to stop a robbery attempt at his home in Munshir Chor, according to local media reports.
