Police in Thakurgaon have installed some 200 Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras at different crime-prone spots of the district in a bid to enhance security of the people.
As criminal activities surged recently in the district, CCTV cameras security surveillance system, alongside the regular surveillance, has been introduced as modern security management tools, said Farhat Ahmed, superintendent of Thakurgaon police, at a programme recently, news agency UNB reports on Sunday.
A total of 200 CCTV cameras have been installed at different strategic points of the district to bring criminal activities under surveillance, the SP said adding that police are also monitoring the criminal activities sharing CCTV cameras of personal and private organisations.
He said many looted money and valuables have already been recovered with the help of footage taken by the CCTV cameras.
