Teen dies falling from tree in Jashore

A teenage boy died falling from a tree in Manirampur upazila of Jashore on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Pranta Biswash, 16, son of Baneshwar Biswash of Balia-Pachakori village in the upazila.

He appeared in this year's School Secondary Certificate (SSC) examination, reports UNB.

He had climbed the tree as part of the 'Charak Puja', a religious festival of the Hindu community marking Chaitra Sankranti,

Local ward member Sudhanna Biswash said Pranta observed fasting since Thursday afternoon as part of the puja.

He along with several others climbed date tree near a local cremation ground on Friday afternoon.

However, he accidentally fell from the tree and suffered injuries to the head and chest.

The teenager was rushed to a local hospital where doctors referred him to Khulna for better treatment. He, however, died on the way to Khulna around 9pm.
