SIRAJGANJ, Nov 29: T-Aman rice harvest is progressing fast in the district as the growers will bring the same land under Rabi crops.
Officials at the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Aman harvest will continue till the middle of December.
A good number of farmers said they are expecting a good yield. Both the male and female farm labourers are passing busy now-a-days.
In a recent visit to different villages under Royganj upazila this correspondent found growers were using threshing machines to separate paddy from rice straw.
Now per maund of newly-harvested paddy is being sold at Tk 700 to Tk 750 in the local markets.
Farmer Shahidul Islam of Kazipur upazila said, "I have got over 150 maunds of rice from seven bighas of land this season."
Deputy Director of DAE Arsad Ali said, "We are hopeful of getting a good Aman yield. The department ensured a proper distribution of fertilisers, seeds and other necessary inputs among farmers."
