Student stabbed to death in Noakhali

A 18-year-old college student was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of assailants over establishing supremacy in the Noakhali municipality on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Kamrul Hossain Zobayer, son of Kamal Uddin of Rajganj union in Begumganj Upazila. A first-year student at Ideal Polytechnic Institute in the Sonapur area of the town, he lived with his family in a rented house in the Chandrapur area of the municipality, reports UNB.

"We have arrested four people in connection with the murder," said Md Shahidul Islam, SP, Noakhali.

The arrestees have been identified as Borhan Uddin Rakib, 22, Ashraful Islam Pias, 19, and two others aged 16.

On Monday night, some 10 to 12 assailants led by Rakib attacked Zobayer and stabbed him indiscriminately near his home around 8:00pm, leaving him seriously injured, police said.

Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital.  Later on the way to Dhaka for better treatment, he died around 10pm, added the police officer.
