At least 20 people were injured in a clash between garment workers and police at Ashuliahere early Friday.
Witnesses said a group of workers of United Trousers Garments at Gouripur were staging demonstrations in front of their factory on Thursday night demanding payment of their arrears.
At one point, the agitated workers started vandalising the factory and confined its general manager and production manager to their rooms.
On information, police rushed in and tried to disperse the workers, reports UNB.
However, the workers engaged in a clash with the law enforcers around 12 noon when a chase and counter-chase took place, leaving 20 workers injured.
Additional policemen were deployed in the area to fend off further trouble, said Shahidul Islam, sub-inspector of Ashulia Police Station.
Meanwhile, the workers of the factory abstained from work also on Friday demanding that the arrears be cleared.
