Police arrested four suspected activists of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) along with crude and molotov bombs at Fouzadari in Meherpur district early Wednesday.
The arrestees are Abdul Hamid, son of Tara Miah, a resident of Charmokimpur village in Manikganj district, Jahidul Islam Bangal, son of Abdus Sattar of Radhakantopur village, Tipu Parvej, 22, son of Shamim Islam of Jhaubaria Nowda Para and Sohel Rana, 20, son of Eyarul Islam of Fatepur village in Meherpur Sadar upazila.
On information about a secret meeting, a team of police raided the house of one Asmat Ali of the area and arrested the four JMB activists, while around 40 other activists fled scene sensing the presence of police, said Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, superintendent of Meherpur Police.
The team also recovered eight crude bombs, three Molotov bombs, some sharp weapons and leaflets from the spot.
