Due to acute adverse weather condition, more than 500 trout fish workers under Adamdighi upazila of Bogra district have become jobless in this peak season.
According to Miniature Fisheries Organisation (MFO) source a total 80 private and government hatcheries are producing different sorts of trout round the year to mitigate the demand of fishes.
Meanwhile, the demand of the trout is being decreased gradually and the fish producers have started incurring huge losses elsewhere the district alarmingly, causing serious problem for the day labourers.
Everyday, they were selling worth Tk 3.0 million to Tk 3.5 million as the vendors visit the area from the different district like Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Kurigram, Rangur, Joypurhat, Natore, Pabna and Sirajganj.
"The vendors of the different region of northern sixteen district were gathering from very early in the morning till late at noon to purchase the trout item," said fisher man Kamal Uddin, 56, at Bashipur village under the upazila.
The hatcheries owners of the area breed the ruhi, carpu, mrigel, silvercarp, glasscarp, sarputy, Japani, mirorcarp, monosex, telapia, tarabain, catfish, shing, koi, pabda, pangus, chitol and tengra fish with the assistance of local fisheries officer, said Secretary of MFO Korban Ali.
President of MFO Rafiqul Islam said, "We have started a Samity entitled how to produce trout easily sine 1990 hoping for releasing indigenous declining species fish item. We got a satisfactory response from the fish related personnel following the year." he added.
Senior Fisheries Officer Mahbubur Rahman said, the fishermen of the area have started losing interest to grow the trout due to gigantic losses in this current season. If the demands of the trout don't rise within next month, the enterprise will be doused very soon, he added.
