Narayanganj gunfight leaves ‘drug pedlar’ wounded

Police recovered 420 pieces of yaba pills and two rounds of bullets.

An alleged drug pedlar received bullet injury in a gunfight with police at Pagla Nischintapur area under Kutubpur union of Narayanganj on early Tuesday.

Manjur Kader, Officer-in- Charge (acting) of Fatullah Model Police Station said, on information, police carried out a drive in the area around 3:45 am and noticed a small group of miscreants.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the gang members opened fire at police prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.  

The suspected drug trader Likhon Mia, 26, son of Tota Mia of the area, was caught in the line of fire and received bullet while his cohorts managed to flee the scene, said the OC.

Three police officials also received injuries in the shootout.

Police later arrested Likhon, recovered 420 pieces of yaba pills and two rounds of bullets along with a revolver from the spot.

Seven cases are pending with different police stations against the arrestee.
