Motor drivers in Khulna get digital health card

The government has distributed digital health cards among professional motor drivers in Khulna to ensure their physical fitness as well as good health.

Drivers will be able to examine their health free of cost in every three month after showing their cards at Khulna general hospital.

Aiming for implementation of safety road, Khulna District Administration, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) of Khulna and Office of Khulna Civil Surgeon jointly implement the programme, reports BSS.

The authorities have distributed 110 health cards among the professional drivers in the first phase as part of the programme.

Lawmaker from Khulna-2 constituency Sheikh Salahuddin Jewel distributed the cards in a function held at the conference room of deputy commissioner office as chief guest.

A special discussion meeting was also held for building health awareness of the drivers.

Organised by Khulna District Administration, DC Md. Helal Hossain presided over the meeting. Divisional Commissioner Md. Lokman Hossain Mia, Police Commissioner of KMP Khandakar Lutful Kabir, Police Super SM Shafiullah, Civil Surgeon of Khulna Dr. ASM Abdur Razzaq, Deputy Director of BRTA Md. Mohosin Hossain, Vice President of Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation Abdur Rahim and President of Khulna Motor Workers Unioun Kazi Nurul Alom, among others spoke on the occasion.

The chief guest said, Bangladesh is now one of the role model of economic development in the world. So, it is necessary for road safeties to save citizens lives.

“An accident on the road can makes life miserable. Therefore, government has taken planned for safe roads as well as good health of drivers,” he said.

The chief guest also gave advice to drivers for not driving recklessly, saying that value of life is more important than saving times.

DC Helal Hossain said, the district administration has taken initiative for health examination during the agitation of drivers on the roads last year.

Later, Khulna Civil Surgeon Office and BRTA have been involved to implement the initiative.

Terming health card was prepared after collecting list from BRTA, he said, adding that each card holder will be able to examine his health from Khulna General Hospital under supervision of Khulna Civil Surgeon.
