Misappropriating seeds: four BADC officials suspended

Four senior officials of Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) in Jhenaidah and Jashore were suspended on Tuesday for misappropriating seeds, reports UNB.

They are - Amin Ullah, deputy director of BADC, Jashore; Tapan Kumar Saha, deputy director of Gokul Nagar Seed Production Farm, Jhenaidah; Indrajit Chandra Shil, deputy director of Karincha Seed Production Farm, Jhenaidah; and Aktaruzzaman Talukdar, deputy director of Pathila Seed Production Farm, Jhenaidah.

Abdul Latif Molla, secretary of BADC, issued separate letters in this regard. 

An investigation found the officials guilty of storing 129.22 metric tonnes of paddy seeds in Jashore Seed Processing Centre from three seed production farms of Jhenaidah for selling them illegally.

The market price of the seeds was estimated to be about Tk 30 million.
