An infant at Satkhira Sadar Hospital died due to alleged negligence of the hospital nurses.

The infant's father Joynul Abedin, hailing from Dhulihar village in Sadar upazila, said that he came to the hospital around 2:00pm on Monday to admit his expecting wife Nurunnahar, who was suffering from acute labour pain.

He requested two nurses for his wife's treatment, but they didn’t pay heed to his request.

The on-duty nurses later took her to operation theatre around 10:00pm, upon which she gave birth to a dead child.

Joynal claimed that he lost his child Monday night due to the utter negligence of the nurses.

A residential medical officer of the hospital, Dr Farhad Jamil said they are investigating into Joynal's allegation, reports UNB.
