Police recovered the body of a man from the bank of Nagor River in Haripur Upazila's bordering Dabori area of Thakurgaon district on Tuesday.
Police said the body of Nizarul Islam, 35, bore some injury marks.
But it was unclear whether he was victim of border killing.
Abdul Hamid, chairman of Gedua Union Parishad, said he had heard that the Indian Border Security Force killed Nizarul and dumped his body in Bangladesh.
But Thakurgaon BGB-50 Commander Lt Col Tuhin Mohammad Masud disagreed. He said he was not sure if the man was killed by BSF, reports UNB.
"He might be a victim of infighting or someone might have killed him and dropped his body in the bordering area," Lt Col Tuhin said. "We are investigating the incident."
