An Awami League leader, who sustained injuries during a clash between Awami League and BNP activists in Godagari upazila on Sunday, died at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) early Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Ismail Hossain, 50, son of Azhar Ali and a resident of Dhomorpur Kajihata area in Deopara union of the upazila and was the convener of 3 no ward Awami League election committee, according to a news agency report.
Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Godagari Model Police Station, said Ismail sustained injuries during a clash between AL-BNP men at Lalpur-Dhomorpur School and College polling centre around 12:00pm on the election day.
Later, he was admitted to ICU of RMCH where he succumbed to his injuries in the early morning.
Earlier, two local Awami League leaders were killed in election violence in the district's Tanore and Mohonpur upazila on Sunday.
